Courtesy Call - Assign of Respect

On the other hand, courtesy refers to displaying good manners and politeness when interacting with others. Discipline entails soldiers' training to develop character, self-control, and efficiency. The subjection to exerted power is usually for the good of the military unit. Military courtesy is one of the features among many other features that define a professional military force (Bailey, 28).[1]

Respect is essential to healthy relationships and can be expressed through various means. One of the most common ways of showing respect is through courtesy. Courtesy is the practice of showing polite behavior toward others, which is an important way of demonstrating respect. When we treat others with respect, they are more likely to reciprocate this behavior, creating a virtuous cycle of positive interactions.

Underclass Cadets visit their upperclassmen or any Lakan in their region as part of the PNPA Alumni's custom known as Courtesy Call, both as a good gesture and an acknowledgment of their presence. The underclass Cadets should take advantage of this ideal occasion to ask their upperclassmen for guidance and best practices to enhance some aspects of their cadetship. The conversation may touch on past cadetship experiences, individual stories, and current Cadet corps events. With a shared connection to their place of origin, the Philippine National Police Academy, Cadets from all generations were brought together.

PBGEN Rudolph Botengan Dimas and PCOL Nelson Asiong Pacalso, two dashing officers, shared their life stories as commissioned officers in the Philippine National Police on a motivational day. You two had a productive and knowledge-filled day, sir. We will treasure the assistance and advice you have given us as we tackle the true challenge of the officer journey.

Leadership is a critical skill that is essential for success in any field. A good leader can inspire, motivate, and guide their team to achieve their goals. However, being a leader is more than just giving orders and delegating tasks. It also involves showing respect and courtesy to those around you. As leaders, we must show politeness and respect for everyone around us. Gaining their public trust is essential to delivering our effectiveness; through this, the public's cooperation will be exercised in any aspect of the police operation.

The importance of respect in relationships cannot be overstated, and courtesy is one way to demonstrate this fundamental value. During Courtesy Calls, underclass Cadets can show respect to their upperclassmen and learn from their experiences, enhancing their Cadet journey. Through these conversations, they can gain valuable insights into navigating the challenges they will face as future officers. The sharing of life stories by PBGEN Rudolph Botengan Dimas and PCOL Nelson Asiong Pacalso inspires Cadets, highlighting the rewards of hard work and dedication to their profession. Being a Cadet, I understand the significance of respecting those who came before me, and I appreciate the advice and guidance of seasoned officers who have already gone through what I am about to face.
